3M™ Cubitron™ II Cut-Off Wheel

The 3M™ Cubitron™ Cut Off disc is constructed using 3M Precision Shaped Ceramic Grain. It delivers an unbeatable combination of performance and value. Specially designed to be used on metals, these high-quality cutting discs deliver outstanding cutting performance.

The cut off disc features 3M Precision Shaped Grain which forms into triangularly shaped grains that are electrostatically positioned onto the backing. The grains then act as individual cutting tools, reducing metal discoloration with extreme efficiency. It allows the disc to last significantly longer than conventional grain abrasives while maintaining a high cut through rate.

Applications

Cut off discs, sometimes referred to as cutting discs or cutting wheels, are great for weld removals and cutting through metals like stainless steel, mild steel, aerospace alloys and more. This could occur in industries such as farm and construction, automotive, ship and boat building, aerospace, metal fabrication.

They are typically used with angle grinders or disc cutters, offering portable solutions for cutting through many different types of material, depending on the construction of the disc. This particular disc is used for cutting through metal, such as car body or tube and sheet cutting using on stainless steel, exhaust tube, rusted fasteners.

Cutting discs are not to be confused with grinding discs, as using the wrong grade of disc for grinder applications can result in damage to your tools and in extreme cases damage to your person.

Is there a difference between cutting and grinding discs?

Yes, the thickness of the discs are different, with cutting discs being thinner than grinding discs. Cuttings generally don't have adequate lateral strength for side grinding.

Can you use metal cutting discs on masonry applications?

No, masonry applications would need a separate disc. Metals cutting discs are usually made from aluminium oxide particles, while masonry cutting discs are made from silicon carbide.

What safety precautions should I take?

Cut off wheels are attached to a cut off wheel tool (sold separately) and must always be used with a wheel guard for safety.
