What is the IP rating?

The IP rating is used to define levels of sealing effectiveness of electrical enclosures against intrusion from foreign bodies (tools, dirt etc) and moisture. This range of enclosures offers an IP40 rating, providing protection from tools and small wires. This enclosure is not waterproof and should not be used outdoors.
