LYTSwitch-2 series LED Driver AC-DC Converters

The LYTSwitch-2 family of primary-side AC-DC converters from Power Integrations is designed for LED driver applications in sold state lighting. These devices dramatically simplify low power constant-current LED driver solutions by eliminating the opto-coupler and secondary control circuitry. They incorporate a high-voltage switching MOSFET plus control circuitry in a compact monolithic IC which requires very few external components. Typical applications include LED lamps and down-lights, luminaires, ballasts and T8 tubes.

• Accurate constant-current regulation, typically ±3%
• Automatic compensation for transformer inductance variation, external component changes with temperature and input line voltage variations
• Elimination of opto-coupler and secondary control circuitry
• Elimination of control loop compensation circuitry
• Frequency-jitter greatly reduces EMI filter cost
• Programmable switching frequency reduces required transformer size
• Auto-restart protection reduces power delivered by >90% for fault conditions
• Hysteretic thermal shutdown with automatic recovery
• Meets high-voltage creepage requirements between MOSFET drain and all other pins
• Energy efficient - No-load consumption <30 mW
