RS PRO ANSI Mineral Insulated Thermocouple with 1 metre lead
From RS PRO the K-type Mineral Insulated Thermocouple, designed to be highly flexible so it can be suitable for many different temperature applications and processes. This wire has a 1 metre lead wire that is PFA insulated which makes it highly flexible. This has been designed by RS PRO to have single element, hot junction insulated from sheath which offers protection against spurious electrical signals. This thermocouple probe is made from Inconel 600 this means it can deal with a wide range of temperatures from low temperatures of -40°C to high temperatures of +750°C.
Features and Benefits
• This RS PRO thermocouple is type K sensor (Nickel Chromium/Nickel Aluminium) with a PFA insulated lead wire that is highly flexible meaning it can be bent and formed to be suitable for many different applications and processes
• Probe material is made from Inconel® Alloy 600 which has excellent oxidation and corrosion resistance making it a fantastic material for measurement in different examples
• The sheaths measurements are 1.0mm diameter x 152mm (6 inch) length
• Minature flat pin plug provided
• As the probe is made from Inconel 600 this means it can deal with a wide range of temperatures from low temperatures of -40°C to high temperatures of +750°C
• The thermocouple is colour coded in accordance with ANSI MC96.1
• Wire tolerance of the thermocouple is in accordance with IEC 60584-1, class 1 for optimum accuracy
Applications
Mineral insulated thermocouples are perfect for performing in a variety of different environments even exposed to pressure and high temperatures you can rely on this temperature sensor to do its job. Places you'll commonly find these sensors include
Heat treatment processes
Annealing furnaces
Chemical reactors
Man-made fibre & synthetic material production
Steam Boilers
Paper industry
Certifications
• ANSI MC96.1
• IEC 60584-1
How does a Thermocouple Work?
A thermocouple is a sensor used to measure temperature in a range of different processes and consists of two wire legs made from different metals joined together at their two ends to form two junctions. The hot junction, also known as the measuring junction, is connected to the body whose temperature is going to be measured, while the cold junction or reference junction is connected to a body of known temperature. When the measuring junction is placed on something hot a voltage or potential difference between this and the reference junction occurs. This voltage can then be converted into a temperature measurement using thermocouple reference tables. This process is also known as the Seebeck Effect.
Inconel® Alloy 600
Inconel is a registered trademark of Special Metals Corporation for a family of austenitic nickel-chromium-based superalloys. As the probe has been made from inconel it is oxidation and corrosion resistant meaning it is designed to perform in environments where it will be subjected to pressure and high temperatures of +750°C, although it is not suitable for sulphur bearing atmospheres above 550°C.
