Should I use a lock nut or a lock washer?

The choice depends on what kind of environment the lock will be installed in. For equipment in an environment with a lot of noise, heat and vibrations such as a factory, use a lock washer. For equipment in a home setting with minimal noise and vibrations, use a lock nut.

209-3811 (part no. KM 18) is just the locknut. The lock washer is ordered separately, 209-3900 (part no. MB 18)
The only parts we supply as kits are the adapter sleeve assemblies. E.g. if you order 209-3737 (part no. H 318) you will get the adapter sleeve, locknut KM 18 and washer MB 18 as a kit.
