A traditional SATA drive wouldn’t allow the same amount of throughput as is available with this device.

Cool Ventilation

These types of SSD drives have a normal working temperature of around 40 degrees. In order to keep the temperature at a normal level inside the external enclosure, StarTech.com have designed the enclosure with holes for better heat dissipation. Operating at an optimum temperature means users don’t need to worry about performance dropping due to overheating.
