What does a terminal block do?

Terminal blocks are modular components which secure two or more wires together inside an insulated frame. They keep wiring safely and neatly organised, protecting other components in the circuit and minimising risk of electric shock to people working on or near them. Troubleshooting and maintenance is made easy with these devices as the wires can be easily connected or disconnected within the block. Different termination types are also available, such as screw, spring-clamp, and push-in. They are used in a wide range of industrial, commercial, and domestic applications and are known to be a space-saving, cost-efficient type of connector.

How does a ferrule work?

A ferrule is a small metal tube component which is placed over a section of stranded wire, usually made of tin-coated copper. The wire can then be compressed by a crimping tool, thereby holding the strands together. It can then be easily and securely pushed into terminal blocks without any tools, much like solid wire, and improves connection integrity.
