This device is a positive mode, tongue operated safety interlock switch which keeps a machine guard door securely locked while machinery is in motion, and isolates power when the safety barrier is released. This reduces risk of injury to personnel by limiting access to hazardous areas, and prevents damage to equipment from interference. This affordable guard locking switch works by allowing the safety gate to open only when power is applied to the internal solenoid. This is safer option as sudden loss of power does not allow the guard to be opened, unlike the Power-to-Lock switches. This safety switch is perfectly suited for use with machinery which does not come to an immediate stop.

The 440G-T27134 Power-to-Unlock Switch has a supply voltage of 24VAC/DC and features 2NC Safety Contacts, 1NO Auxiliary Contact, and 2NC Solenoid Contacts. It has a thermal current of 10A and rated insulation voltage of 500V, with M20 Conduit Entry. The operating temperature ranges from -20 to +60 °C (-4…+140 °F) and the housing material is made of UL approved glass-filled PBT. This switch is fitted with a robust stainless-steel actuator guide, for extra protection against actuator damage due to poor guard alignment and wear-and-tear. This switch is suitable for use with PLCs.

A solenoid interlock switch is a type of safety switch with an internal solenoid; a wire coil which converts electrical energy to mechanical. This type of mechanism limits access to dangerous areas where machinery may be functioning by ensuring that that barriers remain securely shut. The safety guard can only be opened through either energising (Power to Release) or de-energising (Power to Lock) the solenoid with an external signal. They are often used in industrial environments, for example with high inertia rotating machines.
