What is the advantage of a crosshead screw?

A crosshead screw, or Phillips screw, is that it naturally centers the torque when a Phillips screwdriver applied, meaning there is less resistance and more control when screwing and unscrewing. To lessen the chance of the driver slipping from the screw head, known as cam out, a crosshead screw is preferable to a conventional slotted screw.
