3M™ Scotchfil™ Electrical Insulation Putty

From 3M™, this Scotchfil™ Electrical Insulation Putty is used to insulate around or over uneven surfaces. This insulation putty is soft and pliable and so can be moulded quickly and simply with your fingers for effective and reliable application. It can be applied cleanly, without waste, for precision applications. This highly conformable putty is conveniently supplied on a tape backing, and can be used for electrical conductors at temperatures up to 80°C when over wrapped with either Super 33+™ or Super 88 Vinyl Electrical Tape.

Applications

Use 3M™ Scotchfil™ Electrical Insulation Putty to insulate connections up to 600 V and to round out high-voltage connections to gear, smooth bus bar irregularities, and make a moisture seal at ground wire exits in high-voltage splices. This insulation putty can be wrapped, stretched or moulded around irregular shapes and electrical wires for quick, smooth insulation build-up. It’s soft and pliable enough to simply mould with your fingers.

This insulation putty tape is commonly used by electricians and in construction, and is UL recognised as joint insulation for electrical conductors at temperatures up to 80 °C when over wrapped with either Super 33+™ or Super 88 Vinyl Electrical Tape.

How long can electrical insulation putty be stored?

This insulation putty has excellent ageing properties and is very resistant to drying out. Under proper conditions and stored at an appropriate temperature and level of humidity, the putty has a shelf life of five years.
