Enhanced surge protector
An appliance designed to protect electrical devices from voltage spikes. Enhanced surge protectors are ideal for use on power distribution systems. To protect connected electronic equipment from transient overvoltages on the mains supply such as computers, communications and control equipment. Our surge protectors offer an advanced pre-warning so you can stay protected with repeated protection, in lightning prone environments. These products are easy to apply and have an innovative feature to disconnect safely from faulty supplies.

WJ Furse Surge Suppressor Unit, 280V Maximum Voltage Rating, 6.25kA Maximum Surge Current - ESP M1 Series - 7TCA085460R0089 ESP 240M1
This surge suppressor from WJ Furse protects your machinery from sudden voltage spikes. It works by monitoring the circuit and, if voltage exceeds a certain level, channelling it to the ground before it can damage your equipment. The unit's robust steel casing is resistant to impact and corrosion, for use in harsh environments. It has a working voltage range of 200 to 280V, making it compatible with most low-voltage applications.
Features & Benefits
• Weighs just 600g for ease of handling and minimal strain on your DIN rail
• Screw terminals for easy cable connections
• Broad operating temperature range of -40°C to +70°C for use in demanding conditions
• IP20 (ingress protection) rating for resistance to dust and objects larger than 12mm in size
• Current rating 45A
Applications
• Power distribution boards
• Building management systems
• Manufacturing plants
How do I install this monitoring relay?
You can either install this monitoring relay in parallel to the circuit within the power distribution board or directly onto the supply feeding equipment. Use short leads to connect the circuit to the phase, neutral and earth terminals of the relay.
What can cause a voltage surge?
Common causes for voltage surges are blown fuses or lightning strikes.
Transient Voltage Suppressors (Modules,Industrial)
Voltage surges, often referred to as spikes or transient overvoltages are typically caused by switching of fluorescent lights, fuses blowing or nearby lightning activity. The worst voltage surges are usually caused by lightning activity and can reach up to 6000V, with current surges of up to 3000A. The maximum size of the voltage and current surges depends on the location within the buildings wiring system. BS6651:1999 Annex C which was replaced in August 2008 by BS EN 62305-4:2006 is complemented by BS EN 61643-11/12 and covers location categories and provides guidance on protection of electronic equipment. For mains power systems, Types I, II and III are used. Surge protection devices not designed to fit into these categories may only provide limited protection and the equipment they protect may suffer damage.
