What is a desktop power supply?

A desktop power supply is a PSU specifically designed to be used by small items or applications, like laptops, CCTV cameras or chargers. Due to the output of the PSU itself, they wouldn't be a suitable power source for high tech desktops. A PC power supply is created specifically to be used with that computer, whereas these units can be interchanged, providing the technical specifications of the appliance meet the PSU's in terms of safety and usability. This item in particular is generally for industrial use where items to be used meet the output specification.

Are these units only a laptop power supply?
